Fall Semester 2016 Highlights

Image
This semester has been both eventful, stressful, and quite boring at times. That's kind of how life goes. Here's a recap: We moved into a new apartment with two bedrooms! Such an upgrade. And the walls aren't a barfy color and we have a beautiful view of the mountains and the temple. It really is so nice. It feels so homey (homie? haha) and I love it. We also moved into a new ward that is GREAT! I went to an 80s dance with my handsome husband. He's a party animal. (Not really. But more than me haha) Mini-golfed and corn-holed with the family on Labor Day. Got 2nd place in the corn hole tournament with all of our friends. It was a tragic loss to Ben and Spencer. I'm still bitter ;) Went to some football games and sat in the back like true old married people. Saw Charlie Puth in concert at USU. Pretty sure he was extremely high but it was still a fun time. Celebrated our first anniversary with a weekend trip to the Tetons

If I Had a Tweeter Account

Is it normal to be thinking about what you're going to be eating for dinner while you're eating lunch? Asking for a friend.  Why do farts smell a billion times worse in the shower?  How come my bangs grow at lightning speed but the rest of my hair can't grow even a centimeter? If I've already had 2 bowls of cereal today is it fine to have another one? Mini Reese's cups will always beat any other candy. Forever.  If you have no treats in your house it's fine to just eat chocolate chips. There's like an unspoken rule that you can't buy anything for yourself in December. But somehow it always becomes the month where I need everything! Christmas break needs to be 3 months long. And warm. So basically summer.  I want to be Leslie Knope when I grow up.

On Feminism

I recently read the book We Should All Be Feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche. I love it so much. It made me feel so empowered and excited and it helped me see the world a little differently. Adiche is brilliant and I would like to pass out copies of this book to everyone so that we can all be a little more understanding. And not cringe at the word feminist. Because feminists have so much good to say. Here are some of my favorite quotes from the book: "The person more qualified to lead is not the physically stronger person. It is the more intelligent, the more knowledgeable, the more creative, more innovative. And there are no hormones for that." She was talking about how if both a man and a woman apply for a job, and the woman is qualified and WANTS the job, and the man does not- he should not be given the job simply because of his gender. And that is SO TRUE. "We teach females that in relationships, compromise is what a woman is more likely to do." Here
