1st Anniversary- Grand Teton National Park

To celebrate our first anniversary we decided to head off to Grand Teton National Park and it was THE BEST WEEKEND EVER.

We left our house Friday morning and drove into the park (and stopped at Napoleon Dynamite's house in Preston, ID on the way). Tanner was a little "under the weather" (he claims he never gets sick) but thankfully he was still ready to partayyy.

Once we got to the park, we stopped at the Visitors Center and got our shoes on. (There was a quote in the visitors center that I liked: "National Parks are the best idea we've ever had. Absolutely American, absolutely democratic, they reflect us at our best rather than our worst" -Wallace Stegner)

Then we hiked to Taggart Lake. This whole park took my breath away. It was INSANE. I just kept saying "Those mountains are so pretty!!!" They're HUGE and the snow on top just added to the beauty. This was my favorite hike we did all weekend.

It was a short 3 mile hike and it was so nice stretching our legs and being together and being outside. And the lake was unreal. I loved that there was no one else around, the water was so still, and the mountains were looming right in front of us.

We took some selfies to celebrate.

And smooched.

And skipped some rocks.

Then we headed back to Jackson, WY for dinner. We ate at a hole in the wall Thai place that was pretty good but not $14 good. But it was a good experience haha. Then we drove to our Airbnb at a farm in Tetonia, Idaho. (We were so close to going in the wrong house on accident hahaha). The place we stayed was SO NICE! It was the bottom story of a big log home on a farm. And there was a KING BED. Which is always key to a good night's sleep. And thankfully there was a grocery store close so we could get some Rocky Road ice cream. And we woke up to a nice view. There was even a hot air balloon in the sky. (Not pictured, sadly.)

Hello, farm!

Saturday morning we drove back to the park and hiked Inspiration Point. I'm super bummed because Hidden Falls was closed off so we didn't get to see a waterfall. But we did see this view:

And Jenny Lake is GORGEOUS. And giant. We couldn't capture it in a picture.

And we saw A BABY MOOSE! (It's in the below picture somewhere haha) And we saw the antlers of its dad. It was way cool. I wanted to see a moose so bad and my wish came true!

The hike to the top of inspiration point was really steep and muddy and I almost fell into a river haha. And was it worth it? Not really. The view from the top wasn't even as cool as the view from the bottom, the lake and mountains looked so much smaller which kind of ruined the grandeur. But we got some exercise and saw some deer that liked being way close to us and we thew snowballs at each other. So it was still a success.

Then we just drove around the park for a while, took a quick car nap, tried looking for wildlife (pretty unsuccessfully), and went to Jackson again for dinner. We ate at Liberty Burger and had one of the best burgers and possibly the very best sweet potato fries I've ever had. (Tanner knows the way to my heart.)

We ended the night at our place watching some Parks and Rec and I saw a shooting star! (I was really excited about it haha) It was the perfect weekend to celebrate love. I'm so thankful for the mountains and for Tanner. I am one happy girl.
